It was brought to my attention that I should explicitly announce that this game includes the use of pronouns. This updated version makes that statement on the cover of the book and reinforces it within the rules text by highlighting the use of pronouns in red. Nothing has changed in the game’s mechanics.

Pronouns, while not having an impact on the game mechanically, are included in the game as a safety tool that players may use to explicitly define an important aspect of their characters’ identities. It helps a player to express who their character is and makes it possible for the other players at the table to also have an understanding of who that character is and how they identify themselves within the fiction.

If you and/or your players collectively decide to not use pronouns at your table, that is perfectly fine. As long as everyone is in agreement and understands what it means and also agrees that they should never discourage, prevent, or belittle someone who does prefer to use pronouns to identify their character.
